Walk With Me ~ Do You Have A Dark Side...?

Do you ever worry that you've got a dark side? Do you ever worry that when you close those eyes, there's something there about you that you don't want to see?

And I know I've talked about closing your eyes before, but this is more than that.

I want to go into something today and share with you a little something about me, because I think it's going to help you.

Two areas I work in, there's quite a few things I work with, but two of them are Bazi, which is Chinese astrology, which is basically your birth date. The other one is something called Mian Xian, which is Chinese face reading. Chinese face reading is about the structure of the face, not the expression, not the clever makeup application. It's all about the actual structure. And these two work together because the face will show what's inside, and the Bazi chart shows the foundation for what's inside, so they are two very clever things together.

Now, when I actually create your Bazi chart, and I'm looking at your pictures of your face and evaluating things to help you, to help you understand your strengths, I actually do this rather old school. I print out the chart, and I use colourful markers to highlight elements in your birthdate and to find things that I can reference quickly by their color. So it becomes very colourful. It becomes somewhat like a colourful superhero cape, right? Unique to each person because we all have special qualities, and we all have a bit of a hero in us, don't we?

Yeah, we've all got a slight bit of Avenger buried deep inside.

However, I need to step back for a moment to where it all began and share a story about how I looked at myself, because I had to learn about myself before I could learn to help you. A few years back, well, quite a few years back, I had to analyze my own birth chart and my own face. And that's where things took a downward turn. You see, as I analyze the chart, more information appears right before my eyes. It's like the charts come alive. I tried to explain this to someone one day, and I believe they got it.

And it's not that I see things that aren't there, because I don't. But what's on paper that's on two dimension, turns into a three dimension, the way I see it. And that's what makes me so good at what I do. But there's a lot of information juggling up from that piece of paper. There's a lot of information that starts rising up and comes, and it's moving and it's shifting. And it's like viewing things from a very different perspective, and one that's has heightened awareness, which is both good and not so good.

When a Bazi comes to life, it's inner connections and colours become more vibrant, meaningful and purposeful. And therein lies the problem. You see, I started looking at everything and [inaudible 00:03:11] I'm doing my own chart at this point, which is not what I recommend. I think consultants, we usually get someone else to look at our chart. And shadows started to appear, darkness, shadows that I didn't like.

So there I sat, gazing into a mirror. See, I'd done my Bazi, chart, and I'm looking in the mirror putting into play everything I'd been taught. And I started looking at everything. And it became too much because I started to analyze every mark, every wrinkle, every laugh line. Thank God for laugh lines. And things became intense. Now there's a fine line between analytical and critical, and I crossed it that day. Instead of seeing the history of my face interwoven with the intricacies of my birth chart, all I could see were the negatives of both, and I became very unhappy. Now, it stayed that way for a while, but all of a sudden I was kind of brought forward. It's like, what the heck was I doing to myself?

Why was I doing this to myself?

Bazi and face reading are meant to be helpful, not bloody depressing.

Now in Chinese metaphysics, the interaction of Yin and Yang is the key to everything. If we don't know one, we cannot know the other. They must be together. They must be present. Without heat, there is no cold. Without light, there is no dark. It is the simplest union of them all. So how can I expect my face to tell a story that was one-sided? How could I expect to have a birth chart that was angelic? Okay.

We all have a dark side. It's there, whether we want it or not. The important thing is not to hide from it. We ought to embrace it. We're to understand it and learn from it and integrate it positively into our lives. We are to become more self-aware.So for me, one super large inhale later, with an even bigger exhale, and I know I'm truly loved, dark side and all.

I know this when I look at my children's faces, as they roll their eyes and say, "Oh god, mom," and yet want to be with me for that cup of tea and biscuits.

When my colleagues smile warmly at my latest endeavour, somewhat rolling their eyes and commenting, "What will she do next?" But there's a chuckle in that sentence.

And most importantly, when my husband looks me straight in the eye, that intense look of love, and doesn't need to say anything at all.

Now I could hide and fret over past mistakes, errors I've made and decisions that could have been better. But what is the point of that? To be a successful and happy person, you need to work with what you've got and look to the future. I cannot change me and nor would I want to, and I won't try to change you. I will embrace you for who you are and encourage you to do the same with yourself. I am an amazing person. And so are you, even if we do have a bit of a dark side. And in fact, I rather hope you have one, like I do. A bit more fun if you ask me.

Who says blondes have more fun?

Well, I do have a lot more fun, I have to admit.

But my point in sharing this story today is that after the pandemic, well, we're still in the pandemic, but after what we've gone through, I know you're looking at yourself with a critical eye. I know you're seeing the dark side, and you're seeing the mistakes you've made, or the things you're not good at, the extra weight you've gained is a problem.

No, it's not.

The extra weight you've gained is more of you to love.

The problem you made in the past is something you can fix in the future.

The people you've loved in the past, you can love them more in the future.

Don't hide from your dark side because it is so important.

My face tells a story, and yeah, to this day, I look at other people and I think, wow, they're beautiful. They really are. I mean, the structure on the face is stunning, and they don't have a single laugh line or wrinkle or anything. But it's getting easier to realize that my face is the way it's supposed to be, because my story is the way it's supposed to be.

So if you take one thing from this today, it's to love yourself, okay?

To love yourself exactly as you are because baby, you were born that way.
