Feng Shui For New Home Build

How Feng Shui Helps You Build A New Home

Building a new home is an exciting endeavour, but it also comes with its fair share of challenges. From choosing the right location to creating a functional floor plan, there are many decisions to be made.

However, one aspect that is often overlooked but can greatly impact the overall feel and energy of a home is the implementation of Feng Shui principles.

Derived from ancient Chinese teachings, Feng Shui is a philosophy that focuses on creating a harmonious and balanced environment by utilizing specific Feng Shui practices. By incorporating Feng Shui tips in your build, you can tap into the power of yin and yang and create a space that promotes positive energy and good Feng Shui.

To ensure the best possible results, many people enlist the help of a Feng Shui expert, consultant, or practitioner. As your Feng Shui consultant, I am well-versed in the art of Feng Shui and understand how energy flows into a space and what it needs to cultivate success for you.

Through my guidance, we can create a home that is not only visually appealing and supports your physical and emotional well-being, but also ensures your financial investment now and into the future.

What Makes A New Home Good Feng Shui?

Feng Shui, often referred to as the Chinese practice of harmonizing individuals with their surroundings, can greatly impact the energy and overall feeling of a home. Here are some factors we will consider when creating your home with good feng shui:

1. Location in the Landscape:

In Feng Shui, the ideal location for a home is on a gently sloping hill with a solid mountain behind, and a winding river or body of water in front. This placement is believed to create a sense of stability and protection for the occupants of the home.

This is referred to as the 4 Animal Principle, and is the staple of all Feng Shui design. However, in today’s modern world, we can’t always recreate this feature with landforms, but we can recreate it with buildings and roadways around the location.

Feng Shui is adaptable to your environment, and there is no one size fits all.

2. Specific Lot:

When evaluating a potential lot for a new build, it is important to consider the shape and size of the lot.

Irregularly shaped lots may create unseen angles and corners that can bring about negative energy. Similarly, small or narrow lots may restrict the flow of chi / Qi (energy) around the home. It is ideal to find a lot that is regular in shape and size, providing a sense of balance and positive energy flow.

3. Roadways:

It is important to consider the roadways around the new build, as they can bring about excessive noise and fast-moving energy, which can be disruptive to the serenity and balance of a home.

If possible, avoid homes located directly at the intersection of two roads or near busy highways. Cul de sacs can be ok, however we will choose a specific location on the ‘sides’ of the cul de sac as they are far more prosperous.

4. Floor Plan:

The floor plan of a home is crucial in creating good Feng Shui.

A well-designed floor plan should allow for a smooth and uninterrupted flow of energy throughout the home. It is important to have ample natural light, air circulation, and open spaces to allow for the free flow of chi / qi.

We will avoid stairs or a bathroom in the middle of the home as that is considered very inauspicious.

5. Front Door Placement:

The front door, also known as the “mouth of qi”, is where energy enters the home and what ultimately feeds the home. Ideally, we want the timely and prosperous wealth energy entering the home.

It is important to have a clear and inviting pathway to the front door, as well as a solid and well-maintained door. This area is called the ‘Ming Tang’ and allows energy to pause and collect before it enters, very important Feng Shui.

The front door should also be easily visible and accessible from the street. Avoid having the front door directly facing a staircase, as this can bring about rushing and chaotic energy, or facing a toilet.

6. Command Positions:

In Feng Shui, there are specific locations within a room that are considered to be more energetically favourable. These are known as “command positions” and refer to the optimal placement of important furniture pieces, such as the bed, desk, and stove.

For example, the bed should be placed in a position where you can see the door, but are not directly in line with it, as this can create a feeling of vulnerability while sleeping.

7. Internal Floor Plan:

In addition to the placement of important furniture pieces, it is important to consider the internal floor plan of a home in relation to the occupants.

For example, the kitchen should be located in an area that is energetically nourishing and supportive for the family, as it is a place where meals are prepared and often shared together.

Good Feng Shui in a home involves careful consideration of the external environment, including the best lot, how roadways / waterways flow around the home, floor plan, front door placement, and internal layout to meet each family member’s needs.

Make The Best Financial Decision For Your Home

By tapping into the principles of Feng Shui, you can save money, invest wisely in a new home build, and avoid potential financial losses and harm to your family.

Here are some ways you can use Feng Shui to make the best financial decision for your home:

1. Saves you money:

By using Feng Shui to analyze the energy flow in your potential new home build, you can identify areas that may be draining your finances. For example, if your main entrance is located in a place where the energy flows out quickly, you may experience financial losses.

By making simple adjustments with the initial design, we can prevent financial issues, and implement adjustments that increase money to the home.

2. Walk away from a potentially harmful location:

Sometimes, a location may seem perfect for a new home build, but it could have hidden negative Feng Shui energy that can harm your finances and your family.

For example, a home built on a steep slope, or below street level may have negative energy that can lead to financial losses and health issues. A home with a lamppost or tree inline with the front door may lead to strained relationships and separation. Divorces are heartbreaking and expensive...

With the help of Feng Shui, you can identify and avoid such locations, saving yourself from potential financial and personal harm.

3. Eases internal design decisions:

With Feng Shui as your foundational piece, your architect can create the home of your dreams quickly and efficiently, saving you multiple redesigns and up-charges.

Building a new home rarely completes on budget, but with Feng Shui as your foundation you are far more likely to stay on track, and invest in the right home, the first time.

4. Streamlines design elements:

Choosing the right colours, materials, and finishes for your home can be overwhelming and time consuming, with mistakes easily adding financial stress. But with the help of Feng Shui, we can streamline this process by identifying which elements are most supportive to your specific needs and goals.

Purchasing the internal finishes for your new home will be easier with your Feng Shui ‘guide’ that clearly identifies what you need to invest in, and what you can bypass.

6. Considers your personal BaZi chart:

Your BaZi chart, which is based on your date and time of birth, can provide valuable insight into your strengths and weaknesses, as well as your potential for financial success.
