Just like in Chinese Astrology, there are 12 ‘aspects’ of importance, called signs, with each one representing a period of time (month) and possessing unique characteristics. These signs do have an elemental value, and are a major component of your birth chart, and of you.
Chinese Astrology considers 5 elements:
- Water
- Wood
- Fire
- Earth
- Metal
Which creates a difference if you are looking to Western Astrology, as they only use 4.
A Western Astrologer will analyze the planetary positions, and consider the Sun & Moon on the Ecliptic path at the precise moment of birth to determine the chart.
The 12 signs have an elemental component, which help an Astrologer understand personality, private character, public persona, and all will forever influence you.
The 4 Elemental Areas contain 3 signs each:
Earth:
For Taurus, Capricorn & Virgo, stability is the name of the game with Earth people, and their trust and loyalty is evident in all they do. Such people can be a protective mountain for others who may need support, and while they may hide their emotions… they are just under the surface, ready for action. In touch with the Earth itself, they may work in Earth related industries.
Fire:
With Aries, Sagittarius & Leo, true to the nature of fire itself, such people are openly dynamic, often seeking quick adventure, and with an ability to think on their feet! Fire is expansive, and such people are often intelligent and creative, with a knack for drawing others to them. Somewhat like a lighthouse, a fire person can provide direction and inspiration for others to follow.
Air:
Libra, Gemini & Aquarius are like a wafting breeze, gently moving through the garden, Air people love to be around other people, and will show their thoughtful and social grace in diverse conversations. Sometimes deep thinkers, they may turn to philosophy and enjoy debating deep subjects, and are likely to advise or instruct with their knowledge.
Water:
Scorpio, Pisces & Cancer people will most often show a deep sensitive side, have a sense of movement in all they do, and are likely intuitive. Water people tend to be good communicators, and have a love of sharing what they know.
A gifted Western Astrologer will look to many aspects of a person’s chart, and layer information to provide a reading that is most helpful in a person’s life journey.
